Jimmy Owen Jones

November 7, 1942 - May 30, 2022

Jim Jones went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 30, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife Wilma; son, Jeffrey, daughter, Julie Gertner and husband Neil; granddaughter and husband Abby Severson and husband Brody; and grandchildren, Alise, Ashlyn, Aubrey, Neil Jr., Brandon, Amberleigh, and Cody.

He loved studying God's Word and was privileged to teach an adult Life Group at Central Church in College Station. We are so grateful for the assurance that His faith is now sight.

Jim was a Bryan native, and his education took him to Syracuse, NY and Nashville, TN where he met Wilma Faye Maxwell whom he married in October 1969. His career as a magazine editor included time with the Freewill Baptist denomination in Nashville and the National Association of Evangelicals in Wheaton, IL.

They moved to Lubbock in 1972, where he worked with TAMU Extension Service before coming home to Bryan/College Station to work at Texas A&M as a communication specialist. He then started his own business to specialize in video production. He spent his retirement years working in and around the home.

He was an eternal optimist, and rested in God's love, sovereignty, and grace. He was steady, consistent, diligent, and detailed. He enjoyed the simple things in life: a day of working outside followed by a quiet evening on the porch with a good cup of coffee. He loved his family dearly and leaves behind so many precious friends and memories.
