Olga Portales August 1, 1941 - June 3, 2015 Olga Portales, 73, went to be with the Lord Wednesday June 3 at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday June 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. John McCaffrey officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 6 p.m. Saturday with a rosary service at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Olga was born August 1, 1941 in Sinton, Texas the daughter of Doyle and Minerva (Galvan) Evans. She owned and operated Olga's Country Café in Iola and Garcia's in Bedias. She loved to cook for her family and enjoyed family holidays. Olga loved going shopping and traveling with her sister, and listening to music, dancing and going to the movies. Olga is preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Glynn Ramirez; sister, Minnie Jean "Jeanni" Evans; and a brother-in-law, Nolan Wren. She is survived by her husband, Ray Portales; sons, Joe Ramirez Jr. & wife Peggy, Rodney Ramirez & wife Rebecca, daughters, Sandra Ramirez Denman, Yolanda Portales, Michelle Boggs & husband John, Jessica Portales & wife Cindy; brothers, Doyle Glynn Evans Jr. & wife Debbie, James Evans & wife Becky, Ronnie Evans & wife Linda, Perry Sanford & wife Linda, Leland Sanford & Sherina, Reagan Sanford & wife Bonnie, Dennis Sanford & wife Kristy; sisters, Nora Wren and Debra Jean Mills; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at St. Joseph Hospital in CCU for their compassion and care they gave to Olga, especially Joy, Susan, Nycole and Ede.
