John “Johnny Jo” Ruiz, 71, of Bryan, passed away on July 7th in Bryan. Friends are welcome to sign the register book on Friday, July 11th from 8am to 5pm at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home, 3001 South College Ave. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
John was born to Pete, Sr. and Mariana Martinez Ruiz in Bryan. After attending school in Bryan, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Japan during the Vietnam War. Afterward, he returned to Texas and lived in Dallas and then Bryan.
He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Maria Helena. He is survived by his sisters, Mary C. (Annie) Smith of Dickinson and Mary C. (Eloise) Dockery of Killeen and brothers, Peter Strickland of Dallas and Edward Ruiz of College Station and countless nieces, nephews and friends. He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends and will be sorely missed by all who knew him
