I'm back in B-CS after being gone for 25 years. I'd missed the old home town and old friends and love being back.
Now for the previous 60 years: For 26 years
I was married to Norman Godwin, SFA '58 and TAMU '62. We had 2 children, Piper ‘87 and Norm III ‘91 who make me very proud. In the 70's I went to Ultrasound School and became the first registered ultrasound tech in the Brazos Valley. Following mine and Norman's divorce
I took a job in ultrasound sales with a company in Copenhagen, Denmark and was based in Houston so I could travel, covering 28 states, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. When that job ended after 7 years I moved to Waco for the next 12 years, retiring from Providence Hospital. Twelve years ago I moved to College Station where I volunteered at the Bush Library for 3 years, spent 3 years as Secretary-Treasurer of my HOA, have worked 8 years part time for USDA doing ag surveys and will be doing the 2020 census this summer. I have a somewhat profitable and addicting hobby of restoring antique lamps and chandeliers. I also flip houses in my spare time! Just got a contract on one and ready to look for the next.
I share my home with International graduate students at Texas A&M. I've had students from Germany, China, Belgium, Brazil, France, Colombia, Africa, Guam, Russia and Singapore. They're the best and the brightest and I enjoy them so much.
My two children, however are my proudest accomplishment. Norm III has a CPA firm in Austin which made the Aggie 100 list for 2 years. Piper is a former Vice-President of The Weather Channel in Atlanta and is now International Business Leader at IBM. They love their Mama,
pay their own bills, vote Republican, remember my birthday and have given me precious grandchildren to love, enjoy and spoil!
My oldest granddaughter is a senior at A&M, the next one is “finding” herself ln a hippie community in Jerome, AZ. Norm’s two girls are 11 and 7 and are being home schooled due to Covid. I’m really missing seeing them!
After practicing “Catch and Release” for 30 years following my divorce I’ve got a keeper! Over 3 years ago Sonny Ellen’s daughter pimped him out and I’m the lucky one who caught him. We spend a lot of time at the horse races in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma watching his Thoroughbreds run. We both have daughters in Atlanta we visit frequently and are totally enjoying life.
